New Take on the Flip-Flop

A Longtime Sandal Devotee

Kendall Jenner has never been shy about her love for flip-flops. For years, she’s styled the shoe with just about everything—tailored trousers, slinky evening dresses, and casual off-duty looks. Today, she once again embraced her go-to footwear, but with a twist.

The Look of the Day

Spotted in Los Angeles, Jenner wore a cropped red crewneck tee paired with indigo straight-leg mid-rise jeans. She finished the look with a black leather tote bag and, of course, flip-flops. This time, however, she skipped her usual delicate style in favor of a bolder version with a thicker strap and sturdier sole.

From Slim to Chunky

Jenner has long championed sleek, minimalist thong sandals—especially The Row’s ultra-thin designs. She’s worn them with everything from summer minis to date-night skirts, though her signature formula has always been a simple tee and denim. Now, she seems ready to embrace the next evolution of the trend. Instead of retiring her beloved brand, she simply swapped her usual slim pair for The Row’s chunkier Dune sandal, one of the season’s most in-demand styles.

A Family Affair

Kendall isn’t the only Jenner experimenting with flip-flop reinventions. Sister Kylie recently tested towering platform sandals by Los Angeles label ERL. Beyond the family, other stars are stepping into chunky versions too: Nicola Peltz-Beckham has given them a spin, Rosé wore hers around New York, and even Jonathan Bailey brought the Dune sandal onto the red carpet.

The Rise of the Thick-Soled Flip-Flop

As fall approaches, the question becomes how far this trend can go. Will the flip-flop continue its transformation into a full-on platform? One thing’s for sure: Kendall Jenner, with her mix of timeless basics and subtle twists, will be leading the way.
