A New Chapter Unfolds

Just when it seemed the ongoing drama between adidas and Ye had cooled down, Ye reignited the conversation with a fiery Instagram post on Tuesday night. The artist and designer accused adidas of deliberately undermining his YZY site by promoting the adidas Yeezy page higher in Google search results. Ye’s post also took aim at Jerry Lorenzo and other unnamed targets.

In his post, Ye claimed:

“When you google Yeezy.com the adidas site comes before the Yeezy site. Members at adidas, stop doing this. Stop doing your moves to hold me back. Our partnership is done. You’re a 60-billion-dollar company that froze my accounts. Now I’m back on my feet (no pun intended), and I’m not going to stand for this (no pun again).”

The post, which spanned over 400 words, included a series of grievances. Ye accused adidas of exploiting his influence in affordable fashion, called out young designers for drawing inspiration from his work, and criticized his friends for promoting counterfeit Yeezy products. He reserved specific ire for Jerry Lorenzo, saying:

“Jerry was corny and disloyal for doing work with adidas after the way they handled things. I still showed up to his show that was a copy of my Hollywood Bowl show, being the so-called bigger man, but I’m never doing that again for no one. It’s Yeezy over everything.”

The relationship between adidas and Ye dates back to 2013

when they partnered on apparel and footwear. Over the years, the Yeezy brand became a dominant force in the fashion world, experiencing highs and lows. However, tensions began to surface as early as 2019, with Ye publicly accusing adidas of stealing his designs, including slides and sneakers, and making key decisions—such as reissuing colorways or hiring new Yeezy employees—without his consent. The partnership officially ended in 2023 after Ye’s anti-Semitic remarks sparked widespread controversy.

Despite their fallout

Ye’s post boasted financial success, claiming he made $100 million in six months from the YZY site. At the time of publishing, adidas and Jerry Lorenzo had yet to respond to Ye’s statements.

This latest development highlights the continued friction between Ye and adidas, with no clear resolution in sight. As the saga unfolds, one thing remains certain: Ye’s influence and controversies continue to shape the conversation in the fashion industry.
