On Saturday Night Live

Timothée Chalamet took the Saturday Night Live stage by storm this past weekend, showcasing his multifaceted talent as both host and musical guest. The Oscar-nominated actor and star of the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown paid homage to the music legend with captivating performances of three Dylan classics: “Tomorrow Is a Long Time” and a medley of “Outlaw Blues” and “Three Angels.” The latter performance featured a special keyboard accompaniment by acclaimed artist James Blake.

Chalamet also delivered comedic brilliance throughout the night, appearing in a series of memorable sketches. These included roles as a bungee-jumping instructor with questionable credentials, a barista-in-training struggling to keep up, and an AI-generated podcast host exploring the uncanny valley of artificial intelligence.

A Return to SNL

This marks Chalamet’s third time hosting Saturday Night Live, having previously appeared in 2020 and 2023. His latest stint comes at a pivotal moment in his career, as he’s nominated for Best Actor at the 2025 Academy Awards for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. The film has been a critical darling, earning nominations in eight categories, further cementing its status as an awards season frontrunner.

In a nod to his commitment to embodying Dylan, Chalamet recreated the iconic music video for “Subterranean Homesick Blues” last year as part of the film’s promotional campaign.

A Star-Studded Season

Saturday Night Live’s 50th season, which began in September, has been nothing short of spectacular. The milestone season has included musical performances from Jelly Roll, Coldplay, Stevie Nicks, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Mk.gee, Charli XCX, Shaboozey, Gracie Abrams, and Hozier. The previous episode featured Glorilla, while the upcoming February 15 episode—airing just a day before SNL’s highly anticipated 50th-anniversary special—has yet to announce its host and musical guest.
